Hello, my name is Martin Cisneros Jr, I'm 22 years old, born in Salinas, CA, but raised in Greenfield, CA. I'm the oldest of three. I graduated from Greenfield High School in 2013, went to Hartnell College and finished there in 2016. This is my second semester in CSUMB. I'm a Communication Design major, but my focus is visual design. Also, have a part-time job O'Reilly Auto Parts. My reason for a visual design major is not because of all the fun stuff like the using illustrator, photoshop, or designing web pages.  I want to be a visual design major because I want to inspire people through my art skills, communication skills, but mainly because of my story. What I'm referring is I'm currently a cancer patient , I've had it for 6 years now, I got it when I was 16 years old in 2011, I finished the process in 2012, but then got it back in 2015, so since then it's been an on and off process with treatments, CT scans, and check-ups. What I've learned when going through all this is anything could happen in a blink of an eye, but it's up to you if you choose to get up or stay down. Not only in tough situations, but in school too. The school could get hard in many ways, but there's something I learn from my sickness is that no matter what never quit, keep pushing to the finish line, and have a positive attitude; because at the end all that fighting will be worth it. That's what I hope to bring when majoring in visual design to inspire people one way or another if it means on a web page, magazine, or cereal box, but I'll figure out and pursue it.

"Everyday wake up and be thankful for your life because someone out there is fighting for theirs."
